One of the highlights of the automotive calendar, the 2014 Continental Irish Car of the Year awards took place recently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, with the top prize going to Citroen for its “outstanding” C4 Picasso.
The awards, which were again stewarded by Cullen Communications, were voted for by the Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA) and presented by Continental Ireland chief Tom Dennigan in front of a large and festive audience consisting mainly of motor industry representatives. MC for the event was TV presenter and newspaper columnist Brendan O’Connor.
It’s the third time that Citroen has taken the overall Continental Irish Car of the Year title, after the Citroen Xsara (1998) and the Citroen C5 (2009).
Presenting the Car of the Year trophy to Frederic Soulier, Managing Director of Citroen Ireland, Continental’s Tom Dennigan said: “The Citroen C4 Picasso is an outstanding car and a worthy winner of our main award, combining excellent driving qualities with a range of truly impressive technologies.”
The award for Continental Irish Van of the Year went to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
